Sunderland man: Juventus link probably made up

Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini insists there has been no contact with Juventus, despite reports in Italy.

Emanuele Giaccherini has poured cold water on speculation that he is set to leave Sunderland to return to Juventus.

The Italian international played for Juventus between 2011 and last summer when he signed for Sunderland.

Giaccherini has always stressed that his priority is securing a place in Italy's squad for next summer's World Cup in Brazil and it seems that he believes he can do that at the Stadium of Light.

"I don't know anything about links to Juventus," Giaccherini told Radio Deejay.

"I honestly think that it is all made up because it seems strange to me.

"Do I want to return to Juve? No, I am sincerely happy here even if things could be going better."

Juventus lead Serie A but are expected to strengthen their squad during the transfer window to help fend off Roma's Scudetto challenge.

The Old Lady's transfer plans were dealt a severe blow when they exited the Champions League unexpectedly, but a number of less expensive signings such as Giaccherini could still be made.
