French centre back Luarent Koscienly Gna-believes in young Arsenal starlet, says he can help the club win.
Accomplished senior Gunner Laurent Koscielny has given his backing to one of Arsenal's prospective stars of the future, Serge Gnabry, an 18-year-old who has thus far been used sparingly but has 'many qualities' and 'can help the team to win'.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, Koscielny said: 'Serge has a lot of qualities to be a good player and can help the first team to win. He has a lot of quality; he is quick, he has a lot of technique and he is so young so he has time.
'He needs to work hard in training to be with the first team but it is good for him to know the pressure of the game.'
The youngster first came to prominence in his debut season on the books at N5 as, in six Premier Reserve League games, he returned two goals and two assists from 470 available minutes.
The fleet-footed right winger followed that up with a similar impact the following season, netting twice and assisting once from 459 minutes in the U21 Premier League. He also made senior appearances in the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup.
However, it was not until this season when he really rose to prominence in the British press.
While he is yet to receive a consistent run of games, Gnabry has produced the goods when called upon, returning a goal/assist every 37 minutes in the U21 Premier League, scoring twice in a 72 minute role in the UEFA Youth League.
It is clear he has outgrown his age-group and ready for senior-level football but whether he does so at the Emirates Stadium remains to be seen as, according to The Mirror, Wigan Athletic may take the wonderkid on loan for the rest of the season…
