BVB enter fray for £34m Brazilian, bad news for Arsenal, Chelsea?

Diego Costa, one of the hottest properties in European football, is wanted by a clutch of clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Master finisher Diego Costa, an aerially-dominant 25-year-old striker who is potentially available for purchase during the imminent month-long transfer market due to a £34m release clause detailed in the Atletico Madrid player's contract, is spoiled for choice when it comes to employers.

Since the closure of the summer transfer window, Costa's relentless netbusting form in Spain has continued to attract admirers, from Chelsea (Daily Mirror), to Arsenal (Daily Mail).

However, the Premier League duo are not the only elite-level teams looking to recruit a reliable and accomplished striker who can instantly integrate himself into a trophy-challenging roster, as Borussia Dortmund are reportedly looking to dull the inevitable Robert Lewandowski exit pain by signing Costa.

The Express report that BVB may need to act fast in order to acquire Costa as Chelsea are 'desperate' to field a proven goal-scorer - unlike the misfiring trident of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba - while Arsenal have the financial firepower to activate the release clause as Arsene Wenger is alleged to have recently admitted that funds will not be focused on midfield imports.

With a penchant for dribbling, an understanding of the pass (including game-changing ones), Costa has become eminently watchable this season as he fills the void left by Radamel Falcao, now of AS Monaco. So much so, that Costa is responsible for an astonishing 23 goals (and three assists) in 22 appearances in all competitions this season.

He therefore affects the scoreline once every 68 minutes he plays - it is no wonder Atletico are eager to keep him, while Arsenal, Chelsea and BVB are all reportedly interested in signing him.
