Arsenal fans will enjoy their New Year’s celebrations safe in the knowledge that their team sits on top of the Premier League table at the halfway stage of the campaign after a 1-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend.
However, if history is anything to go by, this well could be the Gunners’ season to finally be crowned as English champions once more.
In Arsene Wenger’s reign as Arsenal boss, which totals 17 completed seasons, the club has only finished in a lower position at the end of the campaign than they sat at the new year on three occasions.
This stat shows that Wenger’s Arsenal are generally a stronger team in the second half to the season, which has been proven in recent campaigns.
As such, Gunners’ fans will hope the trend continues and the north Londoners continue their strong start to the season.
