Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Spurs move in for out of favour Manchester United star

A round up of key transfer stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have made an official approach to Manchester United to sign left-back Alexander Buttner.

Buttner has struggled to replace Patrice Evra in the United first team and Spurs appear ready to pounce when the transfer window opens next month.

Buttner’s agent has confirmed that Roma and Genoa are also interested in signing him.

Another player Tottenham have been recently linked with is West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long.

The Sunday People has suggested that Tim Sherwood is interested in the forward as he looks to bolster the club’s attacking options ahead of the second half of the season.

Long is out of contract this coming summer and is yet to discuss terms over a new deal with the Baggies.

The Mirror has suggested that Emmanuel Adebayor could be offered a new contract at Tottenham.

The forward fell out of favour with former boss Andre Villas-Boas and was expected to be sold next month.

However, new head coach Tim Sherwood has given the forward another chance and the paper suggests Spurs will look at extending his deal.
