Manchester United transfer news: Powell set for Premier League return

Manchester United 3

The latest transfer news relating to Manchester United...

Having excelled since joining Wigan Athletic on loan at the start of the season, Nick Powell has been tipped by many to try his hand at regular Premier League football.

Some believed he was ready for the Manchester United first-team, but it appears David Moyes is keen for the teenager to continue his education elsewhere, at least for another few months.

The Mirror reports that Powell is likely to join Hull City for the second half of the season, with talks between Moyes and Tigers boss Steve Bruce already said to have taken place.

The same report states – quite ridiculously – that United would consider selling Powell to one of his many suitors, but are swaying towards a temporary move.

But in truth the attacking midfielder-cum-forward’s progress is such that he is surely destined for a sustained and successful future at Old Trafford, probably beginning as early as next season.

It is an otherwise quiet day transfer rumour-wise for United fans, but with the January window creeping ever closer, we expect the news to hot up in the days and weeks to come.
