Manchester City latest: Aguero’s father on Barca rumours; Hart fit to play

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Sergio Aguero’s father has dismissed suggestions the Manchester City striker could be on his way to Barcelona.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Leonel del Castillo is reported to have said, “I would like to see Sergio and Messi playing together, but there is nothing at all.”

He also looked ahead to the upcoming Champions League last-16 tie between the two sides.

All Barca’s players are very good,” he said, “but they must be careful with City’s players, who are also really good.”

Speaking of Aguero, Goal reports that the striker should be available again next month.

The Argentine has been out with a calf injury, but Manuel Pellegrini told reporters, “I suppose that in January he will be okay.”

In truth the Blues have been doing fine without him, but I guess you can never have enough top quality strikers.

And finally, Sky Sports reports that Joe Hart should be fit to play against Swansea City on New Year’s Day.

The England stopper suffered a bad wound below his left eye in the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, but Pellegrini sees no reason for him not to play.

In L'Equipe, Mangala - who has experience winning domestic titles thanks to a Belgian Pro League winners medal with Standard Liege arriving before a brace of Primeira Liga titles with Porto is quoted to have said recently that: 'The Premier League - it is no secret… to me it is the most beautiful league in the world.

'Whatever the opponent, you know it will be a fight. The game is intense, it is fast, and everyone is giving his very best.'

Mangala, 22-years-old, completed seven tackles, six interceptions and 25 clearances from 538 minutes of Champions League competition this season.
