Tottenham latest, club could move for Real left-back, Dembele doesn't fear Old Trafford trip

Some of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur on this Monday evening.

Tottenham could be put on alert with Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao apparently ready to leave the club according to TalkSport.

Spurs reportedly tried to sign Coentrao in the summer transfer window as part of the deal that took Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, and Spanish newspaper AS has said the only reason the left-back signed a new contract at the Bernabeu in November was to protect the value of any future sale.

Midfielder Mousa Dembele has said that Tottenham will travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on New Years’ Day with no fear.

Dembele is quoted by BT saying: ‘They are a top team. We have a lot of respect for them of course, but we have a very good team too.

‘We can’t have too much respect. We have to play our own game. We can do something there, why not?

‘The teams are different but I am not scared to play there and surprise everyone.’

Spurs have taken seven points from the three league games that Head Coach Tim Sherwood has been in charge of the team, with their latest win coming in a 3-0 win against Stoke City at White Hart Lane yesterday.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris told the Tottenham website that he was pleased with the clean sheet from the game against the Potters, and said the win will bring confidence to the team.

‘That was our eighth clean sheet of the season.

‘It’s a good average so now we need to keep it going, especially after the last month with a lot of goals conceded. It was important to stop that and now we can look forward.

‘The penalty helped us in the game and after that I think the game was a bit more open. We had a lot of chances to score and I think it was a good game for our confidence. It was also important to share a good game with our fans.’
