Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Wilshere display - 'Poor' or 'superb'?

Jack Wilshere's performance for Arsenal against Newcastle United prompted mixed opinions from fans.

Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park ensured they finished 2013 at the top of the Premier League table.  Whether or not they can stay there may in part be down to how busy (and how successful) Arsene Wenger is in the January sales, but the players at his disposal have served him well so far.

One player tipped for greatness - and returning to the Gunners starting XI today - is Jack Wilshere, but the England midfielder's performance against the Magpies recieved mixed reviews come the final whistle.

With Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil missing through injury, Wilshere's return from a two-game suspension was a timely one, but how did he do?

He had one shot (off target) and played three key-passes to set up goal-scoring chances for his teammates. He made 71 passes and had a pass completion rate of 83%; he also completed four dribbles.

Some fans watched that and promptly raved about him, while others were less impressed.  We took to Twitter after the match and have posted a selection of tweets from fans below.
