Mesut Ozil has apologised for ignoring the travelling Arsenal support at The Emirates today – which saw him told off by Per Mertesacker.
The Arsenal game today has certainly been one to forget rather quickly, well unless you are Theo Walcott that is.
They lost 6-3, look like being without Laurent Koscielny for a while with a gashed knee and Jack Wilshere is set to be up the proverbial creek after flipping the bird to the Manchester City fans at The Etihad.
But then there appeared to be a clash at the end of the game between Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil.
Upon leaving the pitch Ozil did not go over to the travelling support to applaud their presence – which left his German compatriot incensed.
Here it is for those who haven’t seen it…
He’s not the Messiah he’s a very naughty boy.
Anyway, joking aside, the despondent Ozil and club record signing has shown his humility by posting an apology to the fans through the medium of Facebook.
On his official page he wrote…
Sorry I didn’t thank the fans at the end of the game!
You have been brilliant to me and I know you had travelled a long way and spent your money to support us. I was upset with the result and know I should have come to you to say ‘thank you’ and I know it is a big Arsenal tradition win, lose or draw.
We can’t help but wonder if he had the looming presence of the BFG behind him when typing this one up…
