French under-21 starlet to whom Arsenal 'appeals' confirms 'last match' on Instagram

Paul-Georges Ntep of AJ Auxerre has confirmed that his game yesterday was his last at home for the club.

AJ Auxerre won last night against Niort as the home side ran out 2-0 winners against the visitors. One of the goalscorer’s on the night was Paul-Georges Ntep - and that name may ring a bell for many a football fan.

His name has been in the column inches recently over here as his name was being linked with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

But it was Arsenal who were being linked with his name most frequently and they are also the team the player himself has acknowledged in the French press:

“Arsenal is a club that appeals to any player. This is a club that relies on young people. After that it’s always the same question – it depends on the project. Arsenal, yes, but to do what? If this is a club that I am going to sit on the bench, then where is the progression? I’m not saying I want to go to a big club to start immediately but at least that can happen in the medium term.”

Well he is certainly on his way from Auxerre - it is just a matter of where now.

Last night was Auxerre’s last game at their Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps of 2013 - with the next game at home not coming until the 9th January.

And after celebrating his goal yesterday by posting a picture on Instagram - and he left the message accompanying it as…

Last match at the Abbe Dechamps.”

The French press seem to think he is on his way to Marseille or Saint-Etienne - but it seems he will be out of the door at his current club.

“If this is a club that I am going to sit on the bench, then where is the progression? I’m not saying I want to go to a big club to start immediately but at least that can happen in the medium term.”

Ntep went on to admit that he has a January move on his mind.

“It is a situation I am currently thinking of,” he added.

“This is a decision that must be taken depending on the project presented, game time and the style of the team.

“The question may arise this winter but it will be for the club, first, to consider. For me, the day I have an interesting sporting project, I will answer the question.”

Ntep has been a star performer this season for Auxerre and has also netted six goals in seven appearances for the France under-21 side.
