Berlusconi: AC Milan need me

AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi insists the Rossoneri need his help to lift them from their current slump.

As AC Milan continue to falter, club President Silvio Berlusconi claims that his intervention is needed.

It has been a terrible start to the season for Milan and Saturday's 2-2 draw with Livorno has left the Rossoneri languishing in ninth place - 22 points shy of leaders Juventus.

Milan's season now rests entirely on the Champions League where they need a point against Ajax in their final group game to book a place in the knockout stages.

The pressure on coach Massimiliano Allegri continues to grow, but Berlusconi believes he can directly influence results.

"Last year, after a disastrous first half of the season, I took more of an interest in Milan and we grabbed third place," he said at the launch of a new fan club in his honour called 'Forza Silvio'.

"I think that today's team need more of my help again."

It seemed like Milan were headed for another painful defeat but Balotelli saved the day in style.

The ex-Manchester City man hit a majestic free-kick into the top corner and then still had time to thump the underside of the bar in the dying seconds.

Balotelli has been widely linked to Chelsea and could consider a move in the January transfer window as Milan continue to struggle - a performance like this will have done him no harm whatsoever.
