Oxlade-Chamberlain back for FA Cup as Arsenal eye up Scottish wonderkid

All the morning news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are ready to join the growing list of teams keeping close tabs on Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld. The 17-year-old Scot has become a regular in Jackie McNamara’s side this season and caught the eye once again when assisting all four goals of a 4-1 win v Partick Thistle last Saturday.

The player, who is dubbed ‘Baby Messi’ by his team-mates (a tag he actively opposes) has so far made it clear he wishes to stay at Tannadice for the time being.

But that could all change given Arsenal’s interest.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the presence of Aaron Ramsey this season has improved. The Welshman has been in stunning form this term and Wenger believes it is key to their good form this season:

"After that he has a huge desire to play every single ball. He wins the 50:50s - that was not the case a year ago. If you let him, he takes the ball at the back, passes to himself in midfield and passes to himself up front because he wants the ball so much. That is why his presence is so massive in a game."

The Gunners believe they could be welcoming Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back to action for the FA Cup Third Round on the opening weekend of January.

The Ox suffered a knee injury on the opening day of the season that was expected to keep him out until November - however there was a setback in his recovery and that date was pushed back.

Arsenal youngster Nico Yennaris has signed a short-term deal to join AFC Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the year. The 20-year-old midfielder has previously spent time on loan with Notts County and has one Premier League appearance with Arsenal to his name.
