CONFIRMED: Tottenham XI to play Tromso - AVB rings the changes

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas makes nine changes from weekend defeat for game in Norway (6.00pm).

Spurs will be looking to get back on track after the 6-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday by beating Tromso tonight in the Europa League.

The team news is in with Brad Friedel replacing Hugo Lloris in goal. Kyle Naughton, Vlad Chiriches and Ezekiel Fryers come into defence alongside Michael Dawson.

In midfield, Nacer Chadli and Andros Townsend provide width with Moussa Dembele and Etienne Capoue in the centre.

And upfront, Roberto Soldado keeps his place with Gylfi Sigurddson behind him.

There’s also a place on the bench for young winger Kenny McEvoy for the first time.

There is no doubt that Andre Villas-Boas will use the opportunity to shuffle his deck in order to keep his first-team fresh for the United clash on Sunday and so a number of fringe players or reserves will likely make his selection this evening.

But… AVB remains concerned. Why?

'It is going to be extremely difficult conditions for sure,' Villas-Boas told a media conference ahead of the evening's encounter, before adding that the artificial pitch will test his players. 'An experience like this… particularly with the artificial pitch so we will sue the training as some kind of adaptation for that.'
