Free-scoring Manchester City to beat CSKA early - betting preview

A look at the best bet for this evening's Champions League group at the Etihad Stadium (7.45pm).

Fresh off the back of a 7-0 thumping of Norwich, Manchester City will look to move one step closer to the Champions League knockout stages by beating CSKA Moscow.

It looks relatively straight forward for Manuel Pellegrini’s free scoring side but they were given a scare in the reverse fixture two weeks ago.

It took a superb save from the now dropped Joe Hart to deny the hosts a point with the last kick of the game.

The bookies don’t see the Russians offering much of a threat on this occasion and Bet Victor offer a best price of 2/9 on City picking up their third win in the group stage. That means you have to look a lot deeper to find any value.

Moscow have been susceptible to conceding early goals this campaign. They’ve conceded five goals in the first half of their three games so far, as well as conceding the opening goal in the first ten minutes against Bayern Munich and Viktoria Plzen.

They may have opened the scoring against City last time out but that won’t be the case today. If Sergio Aguero and company can get out of the traps quickly, it could be game over by the interval.

With that in mind, my bet for the game if for City to be leading 2-0 at half-time and that can be backed at 9/2 with Sky Bet and 5/1 with 888 Sport.

Will it be a comfortable evening City fans? Any bets that take your fancy? Let us know.
