Former Gunner discredits Arsenal's title challenge: NOT favourites!

Liverpool player believes times will be rough for his former club…

Current Liverpool star and former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure, 32, refuses to consider the Premier League leaders as title favourites despite the North Londoners' 2-0 victory over Brendan Rodgers' Reds on Saturday, November 2.

During the build-up to the marquee game of the weekend's domestic action, Toure talked the talk. He had spoken of how he was heading to the Emirates Stadium with his new club to obtain the win, usurp Arsenal at the division's summit, prove Wenger wrong in selling him and putting up a fight.

However, Liverpool were out-gunned, out-passed, defeated by a convincing margin and, in the fight, looked toothless. Arsenal now have a commanding five point cushion over the chasing trident of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur yet Toure refuses to consider his former employers as title favourites.

'The season is long, we all want to be champions,' Toure is quoted to have said by Sky Sports. 'Arsenal are not the title favourites,' he added.

Toure is perhaps looking at Arsenal's upcoming fixture list… against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League followed by a further away trip to Old Trafford in order to take on slumbering lion Manchester United, as potential hurdles the Gunners may clip, leaving the rest of the contenders able to close that point gap.

'This is only November,' said the Ivorian. 'They will have a hard time as well. The season is not done yet, definitely. Both Arsenal and Liverpool definitely have what it takes to win the title.'

Is it a case of sour grapes for Toure? Should Arsenal now be considered favourites after their Liverpool win? Let us know in the comment section below…
