Manchester United's Nick Powell cannot stop scoring, whatever the competition.
Powell is on loan at Wigan Athletic, and has been doing the damage for Owen Coyle's side in both the Europa League and the Championship.
HITC writer Stephen Pickering asserted last week that Powell had more potential that both Januzaj and Zaha, and the Englishman is certainly continuing to show why such claims would be made.
Powell scored a 49th minute goal at the DW Stadium on Saturday, which proved the winner in a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town.
He was impressive, creating two further goalscoring opportunities, completing three successful dribbles, with one tackle and one interception.
The goal was his fifth in his last nine games, with recent strikes against Ipswich, Maribor (2), and Rubin Kazan. His form has also helped Wigan lose just one of their last six games in all competitions.
Wigan manager Owen Coyle was full of praise for Powell after the game, stating:
"He's a terrific talent and I certainly believe he will go on to play at the highest level both for Manchester United and England."
Powell cost United just £4 million from Crewe Alexander last summer, and even scored on his debut, which happened to be against Wigan last year.
The loan spell and regular football is clearly doing him good, and when he returns to Old Trafford he will come back a better player, more experienced and more confident, and one with a greater chance of making it into the first team.
It would be hard to bet against Powell being a part of United's first team squad next year, and on evidence shown this season, it will be quite an exciting prospect to have him in the mix.
Do you see Powell making the breakthrough at United next season? Where would he fit in?
