Everton v Tottenham Hotspur betting preview – tight affair at Goodison

The opportunity to go second in the Premier League is up for grabs for both sides this afternoon (1.30pm).

After Arsenal’s win against Liverpool and Chelsea’s surprise defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, it means that the winner of today’s early afternoon game can close the gap on the Gunners to either three or four points.

But I can’t see a victor at Goodison Park. A share of the spoils would suit Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas more than his opposite number Roberto Martinez, and I feel that the tight nature of Villas Boas’ style of play in recent weeks means the 12/5 for the draw with a number of firms represents good value.

Martinez has had a fantastic start to his reign at Everton and he's continued the great home form the team had under previous boss David Moyes. In their last ten games in Merseyside, they’ve picked up 28 points with their only blemish coming in a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion in August, but they are up against a team that they have a poor record against in the Premier League years.

Spurs may not have won in their past six visits to Goodison but the Toffees have only won five of the 21 meetings since the division was formed. With that and the visitors not conceding to a non-London team so far this season, I think the draw looks a good bet. And on top of that, have a think about taking the 5/6 on the game having fewer than 2.5 goals with Bet Victor.

What do you think Everton and Spurs fans? What represents value for you in this game?
