No injury boost for Arsenal facing Dortmund this time

What Arsenal have to face in their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund

Arsenal fans have to face it: After seeing their Champions League opponent being beat up with injuries Arsenal still was defeated at home. That was not the injury boost Arsenal fans hoped for.

As VfB Stuttgart will experience in their Bundesliga match today, Dortmund is tough to beat at home. With almost sold out on every match with a 25,000 fan capacity on it’s standing room terrace, Arsenal will feel what Dortmund home-field advantage really means. Manager Jurgen Klopp said about playing at home against Stuttgart which will also be valid for Tuesday’s game against Arsenal: It will 'unlock our strengths,' Klopp said.

And now more Dortmund players are getting healthier.

As we reported Marco Reus, Nuri Shain and Sven Bender battled through some injuries.

Bender never missed a beat and was the player of the match at Emirates Stadium.

Both Sahin and Reus suffered a torn ankle ligament and played just okay against Arsenal if they were measured by what they are normally capable of doing. By the time they will face the Gunners again two more weeks of practice and two more game would be in the books. If nothing unexpected happens they will be 100%. reported yesterday that captain Sebastian Kehl will sit on the bench in today’s Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart. Good news for Klopp after Kehl was ruled out with an injury for more then a month. Kehl’s status for the Stuttgart match remains questionable because of training deficit, but he could play against Arsenal.

It was also reported that injured Ilkay Gundogan and Lukasz Piszczek are improving every day.

It’s still unlikely that Klopp will force his players onto the pitch if they aren’t at game speed, but a good thing for the Dortmund manager that the bench will have more depth.

A quick glance at the Champions League table shows that Borussia Dortmund is in the second place. A ticket for the next round is not certain due to Dortmund’s loss to SSC Napoli. That is why Klopp’s side will give everything they got.

Arsenal has to win at least their last two games if they lose to Dortmund again otherwise they won't be in the next round.

What do you think how the next games will unfold for Arsenal?
