Manchester City latest: Hart decision reportedly made and defensive blow revealed

Manchester City have reportedly opted to play Costel Pantilimon ahead of Joe Hart for tomorrow’s Premier League match against Norwich City.

The England goalkeeper was under growing scrutiny following a series of high-profile mistakes, culminating in the defensive mix-up with Matija Nastasic that led to Chelsea’s late winner last weekend.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, City manager Manuel Pellegrini refused to be drawn on who will play between the sticks.

In quotes published by the Guardian, the Chilean said, “Tomorrow you will know the 11 that starts. It’s a decision I have to take every week.

But the same newspaper claims Pantilimon has been training behind City’s first-choice defence in preparation for the match and has been chosen ahead of Hart.

Pellegrini has also revealed that Vincent Kompany may have to wait until after the next international break before he turns out for the Blues again.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Pellegrini said, “Vincent is progressing but I think it will be after the international break maybe that he will be fit. Before that I think is difficult.

We played the last five matches, won four and lost just one against Chelsea, and I think we deserved more. So he is always an important player, but I think we can also play without him.”

While the Blues will hope to have too much for the Canaries, the sooner their defensive talisman returns the better.
