Tottenham Hotspur's inventive way of showing the starting XI last night had one small glitch.
Tottenham Hotspur are through to the next round of the League Cup, but were certainly made to work for it by Hull City last night.
Gylfi Sigurdsson had given Spurs a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, as things looked like plain sailing for the home side. But Steve Bruce’s outfit showed they had the eye of the tiger by forcing the game to extra time, after a Brad Friedel own goal.
They then took the lead through Paul McShane, before Harry Kane bagged a goal to take it to penalties - which they won 8-7.
Spurs did not exactly follow the trend of other top Premier League clubs in the League Cup this week, fielding a very strong team from the start - and the way they broke the team news was certainly new and inventive.
The club posted it up as a Vine, a short video of each shirt hung in the dressing room, after the normal text version that fans wait for on the Tottenham feed often religously.
But this certainly might not be the future.
Because they had to cut out Christian Eriksen (although they found time to show Mousa Dembele twice?) and it might have put a hex on the Dane.
He came off for Nacer Chadli on 68 minutes after one of his quieter performances for his new team.
We like the Vine idea, but it certainly seems that snapshots of 11 shirts might just not be possible in the time limit - although if they had not shown Dembele twice, there would have been room for Eriksen, so maybe it just needs to be thought through a little better.
Here it is ...
