Predicted Sunderland XI to play Hull City - Italian international to get nod

Match to be played on Saturday 2nd November 2013 at 15:00. Venue: The KC Stadium, Hull.

Sunderland must be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a Hull side which are going through some horrific injury problems and coming off the back of two hard, tiring games against Tottenham.

Sunderland have started their season in embarrassing form and the sacking of the manager Paolo Di Canio just 4 games into the season underlines their disappointment.

The Wearside club came into the season with high hopes and made key signings like Jozy Altidore and Emanuele Giaccherini, it seemed the only way was up for Sunderland, but it hasn’t quite worked out like it was planned.

Gus Poyet took up the job after his bizarre exit at Brighton and endeared himself to the Stadium of Light faithful by registering a win against local-rivals Newcastle last weekend. I imagine he looks at this game quite fondly knowing that Hull are enduring some horrific injury problems and it’s like they will only be able to field a half-strength side.

The game against Hull is a completely different story to the one that they had to prepare for against Newcastle, this game is unlikely to have the same intensity and with Hull hurt, then Sunderland should believe in themselves to go straight for the jugular.

Sunderland XI

I imagine he will make just the one change from the side that won their first game against Newcastle and that is adding in Italian international Emanuele Giaccherini, who will look to add more creativity and directness to Sunderland’s play.

Colback should be in line to start after his impressive display against Newcastle, as is Phil Bardsley who will keep his place over Celustka at right back.

Altidore will be the man to watch, often when players go back to their old clubs they manage to get on the score-sheet and I expect the American international to do just that on Saturday.

What is your predicted XI and result for the match?
