Jack Wilshere confirms treatment on swollen ankle - hopes for good news

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes he will be back in action for Arsenal at the weekend.

Jack Wilshere went off injured for Arsenal 58 minutes into their loss to Dortmund, and the sight of him on the side of the pitch with an ice pack on his ankle did not make for a pleasant sight for supporters.

The Englishman says he 'jarred' his ankle and has confirmed he will have treatment on it.

Despite this the Arsenal man aims to be back in action against Crystal Palace, where he would be aiming to score in a third Premier League game in a row.

He told ITV: "Obviously I will have treatment tomorrow because it is still a bit swollen, but I should be all right for the weekend."

Arsenal fans will be wise based on past predictions of a Wilshere return from an ankle knock that these injuries have a habit of taking longer to heal than anticipated.

Don't be surprised if he ends up being ruled out of the weekend's game.

That could be a good thing. Wilshere was Arsenal's poorest performer on the night, and completed a woeful 65 per cent of his passes during his time on the pitch.

Santi Cazorla looked dangerous after coming on in his place, and a home game against Crystal Palace is the perfect chance to let him play his way back to form - not taking a risk with Wilshere.

If the injury proved anything, it was that Wilshere's ankle is fragile, and with Mathieu Flamini likely to return from his concussion, it is the perfect opportunity for Arsene Wenger to give him a rest.

Do you agree? Should he be rested at the weekend?
