Remy rewarded - Four Newcastle stars named in France squad

Didier Deschamps has named players from Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool in his 23-man squad for games against Australia and Finland.

Loic Remy's impressive goalscoring form, three goals in two games, has seen him recalled to the international team.

Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Yohan Cabaye also feature in the squad for the friendly against Australia, and World Cup qualifier against Finland.

Remy's inclusion comes as no surprise, but the same cannot be said of Debuchy and Sissoko. The defender and midfielder have struggled to make an impact for the Toon this season - and it seems like their selection is very much based on past displays for Les Bleus.

Newcastle's quartet form part of eleven Premier League players called up to the French national team.

CONFIRMED: England squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers

Hugo Lloris is Tottenham's sole representative. Patrice Evra is the only Manchester United star called-up. Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri are flying the flag for Manchester City. Laurent Koscielny, Bakary Sagna and Olivier Giroud are the Arsenal players called up. Mamadou Sakho has also been rewarded with a place in the squad.

The complete France squad is as follows:

GKs - Landreau, Lloris, Mandanda

Defenders - Abidal, Clichy, Debuchy, Evra, Koscielny, Sagna, Sakho, Varane

Midfielders - Cabaye, Grenier, Matuidi, Nasri, Pogba, Sissoko

Forwards - Benzema, Giroud, Payet, Rémy, Ribéry, Valbuena

France host Australia on Friday 11th October, before taking on Finland at the Stade de France on Tuesday 15th October.
