Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Spurs tipped to beat Arsenal to free agent, AVB happy after late win

A round up of the key news about Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

Tottenham are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of free agent forward Ciprian Marica, claim reports.

The latest is that Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to bring in further attacking support to his squad, with the Romanian his target.

Marica is reportedly turning down offers from Arsenal and West Ham United for the chance to play at White Hart Lane.

Andre Villas-Boas has praised his side despite Spurs leaving it late to beat Cardiff City.

Tottenham bagged a 93rd minute winner in Wales, as a lone Paulinho strike was enough to see them secure three points to move to second in the table.

“There could only be one winner. You worry it can be one of those games. We played so open and sometimes on the counter they had a chance. But, more than maybe any other game, we deserved the win,” said AVB.

Spurs fans also used the match to send a clear message to the FA over proposals to punish fans for using the word ‘Yid’ at matches.

Several supporters started singing ‘Yid’ chants well over half an hour before the game had even kicked off.

There has been a debate rolling on over whether Spurs fans should sing the chants, with the club canvassing opinion from season ticket holders.
