Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Yarmolenko performance v England

Liverpool were linked with signing Andriy Yarmolenko before the transfer window closed.

Liverpool kept a close eye on Eastern Europe over the summer for potential attacking targets, unsuccessful in pursuits of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Willian.

In the days leading up to the deadline, the club were linked with a £19 million bid for Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko who plays for Dynamo Kiev.

The Reds took the safe option in the end and signed Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea, but no doubt will have been keeping an eye on his display against England.

Liverpool fans were similar, undertaking some first hand scouting, with many able to watch the winger over 90 minutes for the first time.

Yarmolenko, Ukraine's number eight, commented on England's approach: "From the first few minutes it was clear that the British were playing for a draw."

The winger had one shot on goal during the match, which veered off target, and went up against experienced Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole.

His pass completion accuracy was a disappointing 79 per cent, making 28 successful passes in total over the course of the game.

He also completed one successful dribble, but also performed his defensive duties making one interception and making two clearances.

Liverpool fans were split on Twitter regarding his performance, and here is what they had to say:

What did you think of his display and should he be an option for Liverpool?
