Manchester United are facing a race against time to sign Marouane Fellaini after the player handed in an official transfer request to Everton manager Roberto Martinez, the Toffees have said that the player will not go if they cannot find a suitable replacement and with a deal for Wigan’s James McCarthy in the balance, time could be running out for David Moyes.

The biggest deal of the day involving the £40m transfer of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid to Arsenal is dragging on as personal terms are yet to be finalised, reports from the ground however suggest that the deal is close however.

Hull have confirmed that they have had a £5m, club record bid for West Brom striker Shane Long accepted, circumstance to their other business being concluded.

Norwich are thought to be in talks with West Ham over a potential move for Ricardo Vaz Te on a season long loan.

Atletico Bilbao are confident of keeping hold of Ander Herrera, after Manchester United appear to be refusing to pay the whole £36m up front, but United will keep tabs on him should their attempts to land Marouane Fellaini fail.
