Tottenham Hotspur latest: Bernard no-go and duo exit on loan

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news and gossip.

Tottenham target Bernard is looking unlikely to move to the club after his agent spoke out on his future today, stating that mutual commercial interest between Atletico Mineiro and Porto was likely to see him head to the Portuguese champions.

"The negotiations with Dortmund and Tottenham have cooled due to Bernard's high asking price, and he won't go to any of these clubs.

"There is nothing from Shakhtar, they have made no offer. The agreement  is a factor, so Porto are the most likely destination for Bernard."

Spurs have all-but completed the transfer of Paulinho, with the player confirming he was leaving Corinthians for the club last night.

He said: "The other interest we got was of Inter Milan, but the only offer came from Tottenham,"

"The proposal came, we sat down, analysed it and decided. It was a big decision to go to a big club. There comes a certain point when you need new challenges."

All that remains is the official announcement on Tottenham's website confirming the £17 million transfer of the midfielder.

Spurs have confirmed the departures of under-21 duo midfielder Massimo Luongo and defender Grant Hall on loan to Swindon Town for the entire 2013/14 season. The deal comes in time for the pair to enjoy a pre-season with the club and give themselves a greater chance of success during their loan spells.

Luongo told the BBC he was glad to return on loan to Swindon: "It's good to get settled. I had a feeling I was going to come back but I didn't know when. I've got the best chance of playing here so it was the best choice for me."

On HITC today we have asked whether Spurs should forget Leandro Damiao and consider his Brazilian teammate Fred, star of the Confederations Cup, who is rumoured to have a release clause of a ridiculously low €2 million.

Speaking of Damiao, we have also looked at recent deals by his club Internacional netting them €20 million in cash, which certainly removes any desperate need for the club to sell him abroad.
