It is a year ago since Liverpool were first linked with Luciano Vietto, with The Mirror reporting last summer that the club had sent scouts to watch the attacking midfielder.
Real Madrid had a bid rejected for the Racing Club teenager, with his club saying simply that they want to 'enjoy him' for a while before turning a profit on him.
With the European summer transfer window almost upon us, Racing Club are facing the prospect of losing out on their prize asset as interest increases once again.
For fans of Liverpool, the current relevance of Vietto, now 19-years-old, was pointed out by the player's agent today, in an interview with Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
The agent is currently about to travel to Italy to discuss terms with Juventus, but said he would be traveling to other countries to meet with other clubs.
He mentioned Liverpool among the clubs interested, although stopped short of stating he would be traveling to Anfield, refusing to elaborate on where he was next heading.
Vietto's agent Jorge Cysterpiller said: "I'm leaving next week for Europe to meet the various clubs interested. I'll be in Italy. The whole world wants. Like in Liverpool, Real Madrid, Juventus and other international clubs. Vietto is the strongest and most promising youngster of Argentina."
Those are big claims about his client, and perhaps ones he may be expected to make to drum up interest, but the words are not without justification.
Vietto is a secondary striker, also able to play as a main front man or an attacking midfielder, and is already a regular for Racing Club at 19-years-old.
He has scored 11 goals this season in Argentina, and also has two goals in four matches for Argentina' under-20 side.
Any deal is expected to cost the buying club in the region of £7 million, a potential bargain for a player of his calibre, fitting in with Brendan Rodgers' drive to sign talented youngsters, as he will fit similar criteria to Coutinho.
If Liverpool are interested, they will have to act fast and put together a good pitch to ward off Juventus, but he may just get more opportunities at Anfield. Either way this is one player to keep an eye on.
