VIDEO: Lewis Holtby takes one for the team

Lewis Holtby grabbed a goal for Germany’s Under-21 side but he took a hit in the process.

Lewis Holtby has had a hugely positive effect since he moved into English football and it’s no surprise to see that he is a regular for the Germany Under-21 side.

Holtby is a very talented player, popular for the fact that he runs around the pitch like a headless chicken with no regard for his own fitness or safety if it’s going to benefit the side he is playing for.

Holtby was in the Under-21 side that beat Israel 2-1 in their last encounter and he followed up a missed penalty with a very efficient header. However, he took a boot to the face in the process.

Remember Demba Ba getting cracked in the face earlier this season? Well it was quite similar to that but nowhere near as bad as what the Chelsea striker suffered on his return to Newcastle.

Holtby has just been going through a slight dip in form at club level so this effort will come as a welcome goal, which should give him confidence and inspire him to better performances on his Tottenham Hotspur return.

Take a look at the goal/incident here;

What do you make of the commitment?
