Arsenal weekend round-up: Including Jovetic hint and Wilshere return

News and gossip from The Emirates.

Arsenal have received some encouragement in their apparent pursuit of Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic. The Montenegro forward will be looking to be the catalyst behind a victory against England on Tuesday night but he has been speaking about his admiration for the Premier League and joy at being linked with The Gunners as well as Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger has decided to hand a trial to Nigerian international starlet Godfrey Oboabona according to The Sun. The 22-year-old formed a formidable partnership with Chelsea youngster Kenneth Omeruo at the recent African Cup of Nations where The Super Eagles came away with the crown.

He admitted that Arsenal were his ‘favourite club’ and the team he wants to play for. He is currently valued at £1 million by his Nigerian club Sunshine Stars.

Arsenal have been hit by reported news that adidas will NOT be entering the bidding war to become the clubs main kit manufacturers. It had been widely suggested at the end of 2012 that a large chunk of revenue for next season would be the result of a new kit deal with the German company but they have now privately assured that no such deal will occur.

It now leaves Arsenal in limbo over the future of their kit development.

Under-fire goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is having it rough recently. Not content with losing his place in the Arsenal team and Poland national side he has also seen his old man sticking his nose in where it isn’t wanted.

However speaking to Polish press the 22-year-old stopper has made his intentions to stay at The Emirates clear. He said despite his current absence from the first-team and Arsenal’s recent lack of success that he has a ‘debt’ at the club and will be going nowhere.

The Mirror believe that Jack Wilshere is ready to make a speedy recovery from his ankle injury; just after the England internationals finish. The young midfielder had to pull out of the England side after injuring himself against Tottenham in the Premier League; an injury that also kept him absent for the games with Bayern Munich and Swansea City. He is expected to resume full training next week and be fit in time for the game with Norwich on April 13th.

Arsenal are reportedly after Aston Villa youngster Daniel Crowley. This story comes from The Sunday People as they anticipate both The Gunners and Manchester City will make a lucrative move for the 15-year-old dubbed the ‘new Jack Wilshere’.

Finally and Arsenal’s NextGen squad are gearing up for their big game at The Emirates against CSKA Moscow tomorrow. Over 6,000 tickets have been sold for the game; which if Arsenal win will mean a semi-final match-up with Chelsea in Como, Italy.

Mikel Arteta has leant his support to the youngsters by talking of the positive effect playing at The Emirates could have on the team.
