The Arsenal legends that could persuade Christian Eriksen to reject Spurs

Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars are currently working at Ajax and may be able to convince the talented Dane that his future lies at The Emirates and not White Hart Lane.

Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen has rejected the offer of a new contract with his current club Ajax sparking a mass of interest from Premier League clubs.

The Dutch champions Technical Director confirmed the news last month:

"Christian has informed us that he doesn't want to sign a new contract right now. I think he and his agent want to see what opportunities present themselves this summer. We want him to stay here for at least two more years, but the day he leaves us, he will be ready to play for the very best. He's a player even the biggest clubs in the world could do with having in their squad."

Tottenham have been linked with using Jan Vertonghen to try and lure his former team-mate to White Hart Lane but the Technical Director who the quote above is attributed to could have something to say about Spurs as a potential destination; as he is an Arsenal cult hero.

Marc Overmars has been working at Ajax since leaving a similar role at his boyhood club Go Ahead Eagles last year. The Dutchman is not alone however as a bona fide Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp is also the assistant manager at the club.

In recent weeks both names have been linked with a potential move back to North London to take up various different roles in a shake-up of the backroom staff at The Emirates.

So could they convince Eriksen to look at Arsenal?

He would be a perfect signing for Arsenal and is certainly the type of player you can see Arsene Wenger taking a shine to.

He has finally started to prove his ability this season with a series of stellar displays that have enhanced already lofty reputation.

While Arsenal are not currently being touted as his potential destination there is little doubt they may well be taking a look at the inventive midfield talent and with old friends like Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars in Amsterdam to advise the young player on his future there is certainly a chance they would be more likely to send him to the red half of North London rather than the White.

Do you think Arsenal should go in for Christian Eriksen?
