Liverpool pre-game latest: Arsenal build-up and Coutinho to sign today

All of the latest Liverpool news ahead of their clash at the Emirates.

Martin Kelly is the only injury concern ahead of Liverpool’s match against Arsenal this evening. The defender is out with a bad knee injury but the club is expected to welcome back Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique into the starting line up for the match at the Emirates.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has picked out Santi Cazorla as the Arsenal play the side needs to stop, to force a result away at the Emirates. Liverpool travel to Arsenal this evening and Allen has highlighted Cazorla as someone he will target throughout the match to mute his effectiveness.

Brendan Rodgers has claimed that forgetting about the FA Cup defeat against Oldham will be easy for his side. Rodgers has suggested the club’s match against Arsenal this evening is one of their biggest matches of the season as Liverpool look to climb the table and hit the European places.

Philippe Coutinho should complete his move from Inter Milan today after being pictured holding up a Liverpool shirt. Coutinho is expected to sign on the dotted line in a deal worth around the £8.5 million mark after a stretched out battle to sign him against Southampton.

Raheem Sterling will appear in court for an alleged assault on a woman at the start of November. Sterling was originally interviewed by police when he went voluntarily to an appointment three days after the incident is alleged to have taken place. The club are yet to officially comment on the situation.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has urged the club’s powers to offer Steven Gerrard a new long term contract. Gerrard has been captain of the club for well over a decade and an extended contract would almost certainly lead him to see out his career with the Merseyside giants.

Reading manager Brian McDermott has revealed he is confident his side will beat Liverpool to the signing of Tom Ince. McDermott has admitted that Reading can’t compete on the same financial level as Liverpool but can in terms of what they can offer the Blackpool star.

Veggard Forren has revealed that he was never close to signing for Liverpool. The former FC Molde defender was reportedly torn between a move to Southampton and Liverpool but chose the Saints because he says the south coast club felt like a better move for him.
