Seven exciting players linked with signing for Manchester United this week

Manchester United have been linked with some huge deals this week, here is a rundown.

The rumour mill has not stopped regarding future incomings at Old Trafford over the past few days, despite the fact the transfer window is months away from opening.

Last week it was Juventus' Arturo Vidal and PSV's Kevin Strootman, so who has been linked with signing for Manchester United this week?

Brazilian maestro Kaka has once again been linked with an improbable move to Old Trafford. The former Ballon d'Or winner was linked with a possible loan deal at the end of August, which never materialised, and we have to say this one looks as unlikely. Despite the 30-year-old's undoubted talent, he has made just one subsitute appearance in La Liga this season, and has lost his spark of old. The rumours have suggested United could swap Javier Hernandez to sign Kaka, but the club presently are showing no signs of wanting to lose The Little Pea. Where Kaka would fit in with Shinji Kagawa occupying the playmaker position would be unclear, and we predict this is one deal you can write off already.

Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos to Old Trafford? Real Madrid allowing one of their key defenders to leave sounds unlikely, but a recent fallout with manager Jose Mourinho has made such a deal possible. While the defender is expected to line up in El Clasico tomorrow, the relationship between the two remains strained. Chelsea have also been linked with the defender, but Madrid would want David Luiz in exchange, who Chelsea do not want to lose. United on the other hand may want to consider swapping Vidic. Perhaps it sounds counter-intuitive given their defensive problems at present, but the Serbian is 30 and battling injury problems, and bringing in 26-year-old Ramos would be a good business and footballing decision.

Wesley Sneijder

Could Manchester United's pursuit of Wesley Sneijder be back on? It certainly sounds as though it could be, with United interested in a swap deal with Inter Milan involving Nani. Dutchman Sneijder is 29, but believed to be after a new challenge, and could link up with international teammate Robin van Persie at Old Trafford. It has been suggested that Sneijder no longer fits in at Inter because of the changing shape of their side, and United too may have their own challenges in utilising the midfielder, but with a player as talented as he is, it is surely a good problem to have, especially if a swap deal means they do not have to part with a large amount of cash. It would certainly help fix one of the weaker areas of their squad.

Thomas Ince

Better than Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. That's the stunning verdict on Thomas Ince's abilities from his Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, where he is currently plying his trade in the Championship. The left-winger has been in excellent form this seaon, and Holloway was talking after a report in The Sun claimed United had tied up a £6 million deal for January which he promptly denied. It certainly seems as though Holloway was trying to talk up his price tag, and its likely worked. The son of former United player Paul Ince is just 20, and it will be interesting to see how he responds to this new pressure and hype. He was released by Liverpool just over 12 months ago, and could be an excellent replacement for Nani if the Sneijder swap deal goes ahead.

Robert Lewandowski

Incredulously, United were linked with signing yet another striker this week, Borussia Dortmund hitman Robert Lewandowski. He is of course a player the club's fans know all about, from previous speculative links in the summer, and he is reported to have been scouted by the club when he performed against Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this week. The Pole will have 18 months left on his contract in January, and Chelsea have too been linked with signing him. The only way we could see him heading to Old Trafford, is if United were to sell Hernandez, a decision which would certainly split supporters.

Nathan Redmond

Birmingham City starlet Nathan Redmond like Thomas Ince, was this week linked from making the step up from the Championship to three times Champions League winners Manchester United. The 18-year-old winger is highly rated, with the Metro claiming he could cost as much as £12 million, with Tottenham and Liverpool both hovering. He scored seven goals in his debut season last year and while yet to score this year for a struggling Blues side, the winger has been in impressive form.

Esteban Cambiasso

Now this really would be an exciting one. Esteban Cambiasso has been a central figure for Inter Milan since 2004, where he has won the lot, including the Champions League in 2010. Still only 32, a comparative young buck compared to Paul Scholes, the Argentine was this week linked with a deal by Italian paper Gazetto dello Sport. However they add that Sir Alex Ferguson is unwilling to pay the £18 million Inter reportedly want for the player, proving a stumbling block to any deal. Even so, there is no doubt a player of Cambiasso's experience and quality would be an immense addition to United's midfield, despite the fact he is over 30.
