Mizuho International has announced the appointment of Raffaele De Vitis as Executive Director covering Global SSA Borrowers, as it further strengthens its European Primary Debt Markets team.

De Vitis will report directly to Melanie Czarra, who heads the team.

Commenting on the hire, Czarra said: 'I am delighted to have such an established leader in the market on board to join Richard Tarn in driving the expansion of our bond platform in the SSA sector. This appointment further emphasises that Mizuho is not shy to hire talent from top tier houses as it strives to build out its five core currency business in Fixed Income'.

Together with Richard Tarn, Raffaele will co-lead the unit focused on public sector borrowers.

Commenting on his appointment, De Vitis, said: 'I am very excited to join Mizuho in a moment of significant expansion of the group’s presence in the European fixed income capital markets and I look forward to helping leverage Mizuho’s outstanding franchise with public sector borrowers - thanks to the bank’s unrivalled Japanese Yen capabilities - to expand our footprint in other major currencies'.
