7. 1981 - Up to 30 police officers are injured by bricks and other missiles as rioting and looting breaks out in Toxteth, Liverpool

8. 1991 - The Bank of Credit and Commerce International closes UK branches over fraud allegations

9. 1996 - Dolly the sheep, the first mammal to have been successfully cloned from an adult cell, is born

10. 2000 - Euan Blair, the oldest son of British prime minister Tony Blair, is arrested after police found him drunk and lying on the ground in London's Leicester Square

11. 2009 - Roger Federer wins a record 15th tennis Grand Slam, winning a five set match against Andy Roddick at Wimbledon
