Tragedy Strikes As Firm MDs Killed In Plane Crash


Sad to report the death of two Greenhill & Co Managing Directors, who lost their lives when their small plane crashed in New Jersey Tuesday morning.

The bankers have been identified as 45-year-old Jeffrey Buckalew, who ran Greenhill's North American M&A business, and 36-year-old Rakesh Chawla, a fellow Managing Director.

Buckalew's wife and two yound children were also aboard the plane, a single-engine turboprop, on Interstate 287 in Morris County.

Greenhill said in a statement that 'the firm is in deep mourning over the tragic and untimely death of two of its esteemed colleagues and members of Jeff's family....

'Jeff was one of the first employees of Greenhill. He and Rakesh were extraordinary professionals who were highly respected by colleagues and clients alike. They will be sorely missed and our sympathies go out to their families and friends'.
