Barclays Corporate & Employer Solutions has announced the recruitment of Paul Wilson who will join as Head of Employee Benefit Consulting and Chris Mowatt who will take over leadership of Global Stock & Reward Services.
These are the latest in a series of appointments to the firm this year as part of Barclays investment in meeting the employee benefit, corporate protection as well as rewards and incentive needs of its entrepreneur, SME and larger corporate clients.
Wilson and Mowatt, who both join as Directors, will report to Richard Phelps, Managing Director at Barclays Wealth Advisory and Head of Corporate & Employer Solutions. Richard was appointed earlier this year to lead Barclays investment in this area. Initially targeting existing clients of the Barclays Group, the Corporate & Employer Solutions business brings together the group’s existing expertise and experience in employee benefit, share and reward scheme planning as well as SME tax structuring services.
Mowatt joined Barclays on 1st December and Paul will join on 3rd January 2012. Both will be based in London.
Wilson joins from St James’s Place Wealth Management where he was responsible for the offering to its corporate clients as well as heading its Corporate Marketing division. Prior to this, Paul worked for ten years at the Marsh & McLennan group in its employee benefit practice, latterly as UK Sales Director of what is now Mercer Employee Benefit Services.
Mowatt brings more than 15 years’ experience in the share plans industry and joins from the Corporate Equity Solutions division at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney where he is responsible for business development and for implementing new client on-boarding.
In addition to welcoming Wilson and Mowatt, Barclays Corporate & Employer Solutions has also benefited from the appointments this year of Steven Threader, Caroline Sheppard, Tim Parker and David Pinner.
Threader joined Barclays Wealth as a employee benefit consultant from JLT Benefit Solutions bringing more than 25 years’ financial services experience.
Both Sheppard and Parker joined Barclays earlier this year from specialist employee benefits consultancy Johnson Fleming Limited. Pinner joined last month from Lighthouse Group where he was an employee benefit consultant project managing installation and maintenance of employee benefit solutions.
Commenting on this year’s investment in the team and its expansion, Phelps said: 'Paul and Chris’ track records mean they bring further expertise to an already strengthened team. Their appointments, along with the addition this year of individuals with a strong consultancy and service-driven background, reflects our commitment to provide our corporate clients with industry leading advice and exceptional service alongside bespoke and innovative solutions. Through focused hiring, strategic investment, and an expanded product platform, we look to leverage the expertise of the firm and going forward, to broadening the offering to our corporate clients'.
Ian Stuart, Managing Director, Barclays Corporate, commented: 'This is an important strategic opportunity and the growth of this team is key to our ability to serve our clients better. As our clients seek to reward, retain and engage their employees and as auto-enrolment deadlines approach, we see a growing demand for workplace-based services and employee benefits advice and solutions; the Corporate & Employer Solutions team is here to serve that need'.
