How logical are you ?

Here's 9 tricky job interview questions, some of which are designed just to check your logic:

1. Barclays

Q. There are nine balls, one of which is lighter. How would you find the lighter ball using the lowest number of weighs ?

A. Divide the balls into sets of three and weigh all three sets. One of those sets will be lighter, so now you know it's one of those three. In the second step, you weigh two of the three balls. If one weighs less, you now that's the light ball. If they're equal, you know it's the ball you didn't weigh. That's it - done in two steps!

2. Deutche Bank

Q. How many cinemas are there in the UK?

A. 668 was the correct answer (at the time), but you would need to have shown how you arrived at it.

3. Citigroup:

Q. What is your strategy at table tennis ?

4. UBS

Q. If we were playing Russian roulette and had one bullet,  and I randomly spun the chamber and fired but nothing happened, would you rather fire the gun again or respin the chamber and then fire on your turn ?

A. Spin again - because after the first person goes, if you don't spin again there's only a 4-in-5 chance of not ending up dead (the first spin has removed one empty chamber), while there's a 5-in-6 chance of success if you spin again.

Q. Given the numbers 1 to 1000, what is the minimum number of guesses needed to find a specific number in the range ?

A. As it's possible to guess the right answer on the first try, the answer is ‘1’!

A. By eating it

7. Goldman Sachs

Q. If you were shrunk to the size of a pencil and put in a blender, how would you get out?
