No, neither do we. But we know what to do when the 5th of May roles around.
We make some guacamole (mashed avocado, lime, salt and pepper to taste, and garlic, coriander and jalapenos, if we’ve got it). Then we make some margaritas (2 parts tequila, 1 part lime juice and 1 part Cointreau), and we toast to the country that has brought us such good food. (Salud!)
For those of you who’ve forgotten this morsel from World History, on the 5th of May, Mexico won a battle against France that they weren’t supposed to win. It’s not Independence Day (that’s September 16th), but really, Cinco de Mayo is mostly celebrated in the United States and in the state that hosted the 1862 battle (Pueblo).
We’ll make no bones about it. Here at HITC Life, we love Mexican food, and welcome any opportunity to write about it. So herewith we bring you reviews of a few great Mexican restaurants so you can find the perfect place to eat tonight.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Crazy Homies vs. Mexicali (note: Mexicali has closed, but we liked Crazy Homies better anyway)
