Gide Loyrette Nouel Announces Appointment Of Local Partners

Gide Loyrette Nouel (‘Gide’) has announced the appointment of six local partners, effective from 1 April 2011. These are internal appointments around the Firm’s international network (including affiliate firms) and encompass a range of disciplines including M&A/Corporate, Banking & Finance, Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property and Tax.

David Klass, Local Partner - Gide Loyrette Nouel

London, Tax

David Klass is a member of Gide’s London Tax practice where he advises on a wide range of corporate tax issues and transactions, in particular those with an international element. He has extensive experience of cross-border M&A transactions, structured finance (clients include originators of assets, arrangers of structured financings and a broad range of investors), and the UK and international tax aspects of corporate group reorganisations. He gained a BA in French and German from Oxford University (1998) before passing the Common Professional Examination (1999) and the Legal Practice Course (2000) at the College of Law, London. He was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2003 and began his career as a trainee and then associate at Slaughter and May.

István Kővári, Local Partner - Gide Loyrette Nouel

Budapest, M&A / Corporate

István Kővári, a specialist in mergers and acquisitions and corporate matters, was appointed head of Gide Loyrette Nouel Budapest's M&A department at the beginning of 2010. He is a former equity partner of CMS Cameron McKenna with close to 20 years' experience in M&A, energy, projects and infrastructure. He has an outstanding track record in cross-border M&A deals. István has acted for borrowers and project sponsors in putting together bankable project contract packages in IPPs and DBFO road projects, as well as helping private sector financiers with due diligence on projects and putting together project specific covenant packages in the financing documents. He briefly worked in London on PFI and PPP projects.

Adam Rooney, Local Partner - Gide Loyrette Nouel

London, Dispute Resolution

Adam is a member of the Firm’s Dispute Resolution practice group, and specialises in commercial litigation and insolvency-related work in England and other common-law jurisdictions. He has particular experience in disputes involving clients in the financial services sector, and raising cross-border issues. He qualified as a barrister (Inner Temple) in 1997 and holds a master's degree in Private Law from the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne), and an LL.B. (Hons) in English and French Law, King’s College London. Adam is a member of Franco-British Lawyer Society and of YIAG (Young International Arbitration Group), LCIA.

Zheng Yu, Local Partner - Gide Loyrette Nouel

Beijing, M&A/Corporate - Dispute Resolution

A member of the Chinese Bar, Zheng Yu holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Commerce from Shantou University and an LL.M. in Management from a joint programme between Zhongshan University and Shantou University. In 2003, he won a French government scholarship to attend a professional training programme at EFB, the Paris Bar School. Before joining GLN, Zheng Yu worked as an associate for five years at a local law firm in Guangzhou where he developed extensive experience in business-related practice and litigation and was also named a partner. His practice mainly covers foreign direct investments, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance and dispute resolution. He joined GLN’s Beijing office in 2004.

The firm has also announced the appointment of two partners in the local associate firm in Turkey.

Haluk Bilgiç, Local Partner

Istanbul, Banking and Finance

Haluk Bilgiç heads the Banking and Finance department and advises multinational corporations and financial institutions, including IFC, EIB and EBRD, regarding their investments in Turkey, with a practice focus on corporate and commercial transactions, capital markets, project finance, privatization, and banking and finance. He has extensive experience in privatization projects. Haluk was on secondment at the Paris office of Gide Loyrette Nouel in 2008. He is a graduate of and holds a master's degree in Private Law (with Distinction) from the Law School of the University of Istanbul.

Esra Dündar-Loiseau, Local Partner

Istanbul, Intellectual Property

Esra Dündar-Loiseau has dual Turkish and French nationality. She heads the IP/IT department and specialises in intellectual property (trademarks, patents, designs, copyright and all IP litigation), IT (Internet and e-commerce) and licensing and distribution. She provides assistance in IP/IT-related issues arising in the daily activity of companies as well as in all issues regarding information technology law including Internet law, software and data protection. Esra regularly advises on seizures of counterfeit products all across Turkey on behalf of major Turkish and foreign companies. She holds a BA degree from Marmara University and a postgraduate degree (DEA) in International Economic Law from the University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne).
