Emmanuel Adebayor warns Real Madrid to be wary of Peter Crouch

Emmanuel Adebayor warns Real Madrid to be wary of Peter CrouchEmmanuel Adebayor has identified the Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch as a significant threat to Real Madrid's Champions League ambitions in the buildup to their quarter-final.

The Real striker predicted that Crouch would cause his side plenty of problems in the first leg at the Bernabéu on Tuesday, and said the England forward was one of the players in England he most admired.

"When I was playing in England I always loved a lot of Tottenham players, especially Peter Crouch," Adebayor said in an interview with bwin.com. "I do not know why but I love this guy. He is not that quick but he is very tall.

He just has this ability of dribbling, doing everything in slow motion, he is very good, and in the air, you know him, there is no way to win the battle against him. He will cause lots of trouble to us, we need to manage to win the header because as soon as he starts winning the header in our area it will be very difficult for us."

Adebayor said Real had to be on their guard to deal with Spurs' attacking flair. "Tottenham in general, they are playing very well as a team, they attack together, they defend together," he said. "They never stop playing for 90 minutes, you can win 2-0, 3-0, they never give up. That is what we have to know, that they never give up no matter the score.

"They will play to the last whistle; that is not only Tottenham, that is a general mentality of British football, they always keep playing until the end of the game.

However, the Togo and former Manchester City and Arsenal striker, said he was confident his impressive past record against Tuesday's opponents would stand him in good stead: "I had a good record against Tottenham when I was playing for Arsenal. I always had the chance to score and I hope to do so in Tuesday but all that matters for me is that Real Madrid go through, it does not matter if I score one, two or three goals. All the club and the fans need is to go to the semi-finals and I hope that I can contribute to that."
