We asked our readers who they thought bears primary responsibility for the financial crisis.
Almost 1,700 people participated in the poll.
Here are the results:
35.5% of participants said that they thought poor risk management systems / procedures were the prime cause of the crisis
23.1% said that greed was the root cause
15.9% said that it was down to governments and lawmakers
9.4% put it down to lax regulation
8.5% said it was the fault of central banks
6.5% put it at the door of the credit rating agencies
and just 1.1% said it was compensation structures
