The Liverpool manager is in no rush to go out and buy players this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear there won’t be a flurry of incoming transfer activity at Liverpool this summer, speaking to liverpoolfc.com from the club’s training camp in the USA.

Given the Reds won the UEFA Champions League last season, it would be silly to expect a revolution of talent at Anfield, but Klopp’s latest transfer update suggests there could be just one arrival before the end of the transfer window.

His comments could be disappointing news for any Liverpool fan who is keen to see the club make a raft of new signings.

As quoted by liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: “How I said, it will not be the biggest transfer window of LFC; we invested a lot in the team in the last two years, I would say. We cannot spend every year in the same manner.”

Also citing the mega spending power of teams such as Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League rivals Manchester City, Klopp is providing a sobering reality that the Reds might not be able to go toe-to-toe with clubs like that off the pitch in the transfer market, or at least don’t intend to.

That’s not say the Liverpool boss is unhappy with the squad he has, in fact he seems relaxed and confident heading into the new season.

He would go on tell the club’s official website: “But we are fine. I’m happy with the team, we are really happy. We have to see if we find maybe one position, if we find something for it, but there’s no real pressure because it’s not about signing a player.”

There’s no reason to panic at Anfield and Liverpool will likely be very competitive across multiple competitions next term, the players they’ve got have proven they are good enough to do that.

Fresh ideas and added competition is rarely a bad idea and the club could do with more depth in areas such as left-back or in attacking midfield, but they’ve earned the right to pick their targets and sign players on their own terms rather than take part in a transfer rush.

How it all plays out by the end of deadline day in August will be very interesting.

Liverpool are wearing the European crown and rivals across the continent will be spending big in an effort to take it next season.
