Tyreece John-Jules has expressed a desire to emulate Bukayo Saka at Arsenal on UMM.
John-Jules and Saka have come through Arsenal’s academy system together, although their paths have been difference in recent years.
While Saka has been given an opportunity in Arsenal’s first team and grabbed it with both hands, John-Jules has been sent out on loan elsewhere.
The striker has spent the last two seasons at Lincoln City and Doncaster Rovers.
But watching Saka from afar has just given him motivation to break into Arsenal’s team.
And the youngster is hoping that in time he too can prove his worth to Mikel Arteta.
“It gives me something to look forward and something to push me on [seeing Saka thriving],” the 20-year-old striker said.
“Me and Bukayo have played every age group together. To see him doing so well only motivates me to try and emulate it.”
John-Jules has his work cut out to break into Arsenal’s side, as he not only has to get into the team ahead of the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, but also Folarin Balogun, who has just signed a new contract at the North London club.
The 20-year-old has shown an ability to score goals out on loan though, and has five to his name in 18 appearances in an injury impacted season at Doncaster this year.
While those figures may not make Arteta immediately take notice, they could well earn him a chance over pre-season, where he will surely be desperate to impress.
