The German midfielder has been in impressive form for Liverpool.
Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has insisted to the Guardian that he is not at the same level as Steven Gerrard, despite hearing comparisons.
The German midfielder has found himself out of the first team this season as Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson have formed a solid midfield trio.
He has been back in contention in recent weeks, though, courtesy of injuries to two of those players.

He has impressed too, putting in a series of impressive performances to stake a strong claim for a more regular place in future.
His displays have led to some fans comparing him to Reds legend Gerrard but the German insists he is nowhere near the former captain.
“It is very nice to be compared to Steven Gerrard but I know I am not at the same level,’” he told the Guardian.
“There is a long way to go there. I am trying to score more goals for a start. It is something I want to do.”
“My target is to score more goals, not necessarily be the next Steven Gerrard. Obviously, my respect for him is very high but I want to go my own way. I want to be Emre Can, not copy other players.”

For now, Can will be focused on continuing to help Liverpool’s title challenge this season.
Sunday’s 6-1 win over Watford saw the Reds move to the top of the table and sent out a stern message that they intend to be serious challengers this season.
With this year looking to be one of the most competitive to date, though, they are far from champions yet and they will be hoping the likes of Can can continue his form to help them towards that coveted trophy.
