Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has admitted to the club’s official website that he will have to work hard to get into this current line up.

The midfielder has found himself out of the first-team picture at the beginning of this season after an injury following his participation at Euro 2016.

He has since had to sit and watch as his team enjoy a flying start to the campaign, sitting fourth in the table at present.

In his absence, Jurgen Klopp has settled on a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum.

That trio has proved to be a big success and Can admits he faces a fight to break it up and get back into the team.

“I have to work hard. I have to get fitness back,” he told the club’s official website.

“If I get game time – which is always different to training – I have to work hard on my game and get confidence again.”

“Gini, Henderson and Lallana did very well and played good football. We have to continue that. If you look at the bench, we have a very, very strong bench and a very strong squad.”

While he is determined to replace one of his teammates in the starting lineup, Can insists that the team the most important thing at Anfield under Klopp.

The German has been determined to create a spirit in his playing squad, something he has achieved great success in his time at the club.

And Can says you can see that they are all friends off the pitch in the way that they play together on it.

“You can say it’s the secret. Off the pitch everybody is a nice guy in the club,” he added.

“Sometimes we go out for dinner and I think that’s very important. You can see that in the games, we are friends off the pitch. It’s very important.”
