Leeds ace thrilled with debut strike.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Tyler Denton had a debut to remember as he struck the winning goal in the EFL Cup second round.
The left-back was standing in for rested Charlie Taylor as Leeds rotated their squad to face Luton Town, and could not have dreamed a better outcome.
He scored midway through the first half from the edge of the box, demonstrating his fearless attitude and superb technique, giving the Whites a 1-0 lead.
He was part of a back four which combined to hang onto that advantage and keep a clean sheet, as the side earned a hard fought win over the League Two side.
Denton sent an emotional message on Twitter after the game in which he described the feeling as incomparable.
The left-back did exactly what was asked of him, seizing his chance, and he has given head coach Garry Monk another option in defence.
Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor in action
With Charlie Taylor’s future uncertain, Denton’s display provides an element of peace of mind should the defender be sold before the transfer deadline.
A real test will be his ability to cope in the Championship, but this was a perfect start to Denton’s career.
