The West Ham attacker is hoping to leave the club this month.

West Ham United won in the Premier League today, in quite spectacular fashion. The Hammers claimed a 3-0 win against Crystal Palace thanks to second-half goals from Sofiane Feghouli, Manuel Lanzini and the second goal coming in spectacular fashion with a fantastic flying volley from Andy Carroll.

West Ham also won the game without the presence of their star man Dimitri Payet.

Slaven Bilic admitted this week that the Frenchman had informed him he no longer wanted to play for the club and, with that in mind, West Ham left him out of the squad for the match.

Speaking to BT Sport Score before the game former French international Emmanuel Petit could not understand why Payet was trying to force through such a deal, and that Marseille fans think he is heading back:

“They are still expecting him to go back to the club. There have been big headlines and speculation about him since December already.

“To be honest I don’t understand the timing of what is happening between Payet and the club. He re-negotiated his contract with the club a year ago.

“He became a different player with West Ham and did well with the national team as well.

“I don’t understand why he is getting into a war with the club because he wants to go back to his former club.”

The Les Bleus star has certainly courted controversy with his performances this season, as his mind has clearly been elsewhere after a brilliant Euro 2016 with his home nation.

West Ham will no doubt be looking for a buyer now and given his recent attitude that might not be too easy.

But it appears Marseille might be the best yet.
