Emma Raducanu pulled off a stunning comeback on Wednesday to reach the quarter-finals of the Transylvania Open.

After falling 0-5 behind in the opening set, Raducanu fought back to beat Kaja Juvan 7-6, 6-1, earning a spot in the quarter-finals against Maja Chwalińska. The win comes after her early exit from the Australian Open.

This tournament could mark a significant milestone for Raducanu, who recently split with coach Francisco Roig. She has not lifted a WTA title since her breakthrough Grand Slam win at the 2021 US Open.

Before her match against Juvan, she was asked about her ideal mixed doubles partner from any era of tennis. Raducanu did not hesitate before choosing one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Emma Raducanu reveals her dream doubles choice

During a Q&A with fans on the Transylvania Open’s social media, Raducanu was asked who she would choose as her ideal mixed doubles partner from any period in tennis history.

Her reply was straightforward: “Probably Roger Federer.”

It is an understandable choice given Federer’s enormous influence on the sport. The Swiss legend captured 20 Grand Slam titles before retiring in 2022, and he remains a beloved figure across the tennis world.

Even after stepping away from professional play, Federer has not drifted far from the spotlight.

He recently made an appearance at the Australian Open, taking part in an exhibition tiebreak against Casper Ruud – and even managed to come out on top, winning 7-2.

Emma Raducanu chooses Billie Jean King for dream exhibition partner

In another fan question, Raducanu was asked: “If you could play an exhibition match with any tennis legend, who would it be?”

She replied: “I would want to play with Billie Jean King. That would be a really cool experience, and she is still such an inspiration and has achieved so much.

“But also, [she is] so knowledgeable and I love any opportunity I can to speak to her.”

King is widely recognised as one of the most influential figures in tennis history. The American icon played in the famous ‘Battle of the Sexes’ against Bobby Riggs and was instrumental in pushing for equal prize money within the sport.

She also established the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) back in 1973 at London’s Gloucester Hotel.
